In the beginning, there was Steely Dan. And it was good. Actually it was bodacious, it was so outrageous, it was the Cuervo Gold, the fine Columbian. Always the thinking man’s band, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker took influences as diverse as Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Ray Charles, and William Burroughs, Phillip Roth, Vladimir Nabokov, W.C. Fields and Kurt Vonnegut, and created a sound and sensibility that changed the music world forever.

Steely Jam doesn’t just recreate the sounds of the Dan. The members of the band are Dan scholars, steeped in the music and the influences that made the band so irresistible.

It all comes together in performances that are in the truest sense, a tribute. Steely Jam pays homage to the unique and astonishing music, the sound, the sense of humor and sophisticated social satire that Steely Dan created, and continues to create to this day.
